Greening Greater Toronto's Race to Reduce Awards
483 Bay Street and 150 Commerce Valley Drive received three significant energy reduction awards from Greening Greater Toronto’s Race to Reduce Program:
Gold Participation Awards to 483 Bay St. and 150 Commerce Valley for having over 75% of tenant space signed up to reduce energy consumption.
Building Performance Award to 483 Bay St. for winning the over 500,000 s.f. category for the Lowest Energy Use (ekWh/s.f.) (REALpac normalized) in an office building.
More than 150 real estate owners, managers, and tenants from across the Toronto region took part in the event which included awards for participation, performance and action and innovation. Competition for the awards was fierce: over 380 landlords and tenants from 117 buildings entered the Race to Reducesince its launch in May 2011, representing over 25% of the region’s office space.
The Race to Reduce Program challenges Toronto region office building landlords and tenants to publically commit to work together to reduce energy use in their buildings, and to reduce total energy use in participating buildings by at least 10% over four years.
Congratulations to the staff at 483 Bay Street and 150 Commerce Valley Drive for their hard work in keeping Northam as a front runner in sustainability and energy conservation.
